Cafe Knit is aware that how your information is stored and used can be a major factor when choosing an on-line retailer. We aim to protect our customers and have created these terms and conditions to reassure you. By choosing to use Café Knit, you are agreeing with our policies.
What Personal Information about Customers does Café Knit Gather?
We use all site traffic as a learning experience that will help us tailor our services to meet our customer’s needs. The information we gather will only be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. There are three types of information that might be gathered now or in the future:

  1. Your Information: As you navigate around our website you maybe be required to enter certain information. This will allow you to access certain functions and customize the search facilities for your purposes. This information can be used to allow us to respond to certain requests, improving our service to you and to communicate with you at a later stage.
  2. Automated Information: We receive and collect certain information when you visit our website and interact with our services. Café Knit, like many web services, obtains information when your web browser accesses cafeknit.com. However this information is not personally traceable. There are services available that will allow you to visit websites anonymously.
  3. Cookies: Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that are transferred from CafeKnit.com to your computer through the web browser. These cookies enable our systems to identify your browser and therefore allow certain features to operate such as shopping baskets. We may release certain personal information collected from our site if we believe that it is necessary to enforce our terms and conditions and comply with current laws; protect the rights, property or safety of cafeknit.com, our users, suppliers and contractors. This includes exchanging information with organizations and companies involved with fraud protection and credit risk assessment.

Payment, Returns & Delivery

How to place an order

Making a purchase is simple. Just browse in the shop and add any items that you wish to buy to your basket, changing the number of items as required. After you have finished your selections, go to the “Checkout” section. You will then be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order. Customers who have used cafeknit.com before should login using their username and password before commencing shopping

Product descriptions

All the information on cafeknit.com is accurate to the best of our knowledge. We will correct any errors as soon as they are brought to our attention. We provide colour names, descriptions and swatches to make your shopping experience as easy as possible. We try as hard as possible to ensure colour representation on cafeknit.com is as accurate as possible, but due to different monitor setups, the colour that you see may not match exactly the actual colour of the yarn. If a product you have ordered is not as described, you may return goods to us in a complete and resalable condition for a refund (please see Returns and Cancellations.)

Payment Information

Payment may be made by credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or debit card (Visa Electron, Visa Debit, Maestro, Solo) & Paypal. You may send your credit/debit card information via phone, or SECURELY over the Internet. If you wish to pay by cheque, please contact us. Please allow 5 working days for a cheque payment to clear before goods are dispatched by us.

VOUCHERS: When redeeming a Café Knit voucher please quote the voucher number in the ‘Enter any special delivery instructions’ section under Shipping and Handling.

Your order is accepted once payment is received. You will receive a confirmation of your order by email.

Payments are made to Café Knit using the secure technology of Sage Pay, a division of Sage (UK) Limited and the largest independent payment service provider in the UK. All details are encrypted before transmission. Café Knit does not store any credit card details as all transactions are carried out on Protx secure servers.


For deliveries within the UK, goods are sent by Royal Mail 2nd Class delivery. UK yarn orders over £25.00 qualify for free delivery. UK postage charges start at £2.95 for orders up to the value of £5.00; £3.00 for orders up to £10.00; £3.10 for orders up to £15.00; £3.20 for orders up to £20.00 and £3.40 for orders up to £25.00. Should your item not be in stock we will email or phone you to let you know. You may wish to have your requested items backordered at that point, take part-delivery or cancel the order. If on backorder please allow between 10 to 28 days for delivery. Backordered items are charged at the time we process your main order. We do not accept responsibility for any delays caused by Royal Mail as these are out of our control.

Returns and Cancellations

Customers located in the European Union have the right to cancel an order within seven working days after the day on which you receive the goods.
Should you wish to cancel your purchase within seven days, please contact us in writing, either by letter or by email. All goods must be returned unused and in a saleable condition. Please return items to Café Knit, 46 High Street, Lavenham, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 9PY, England, and include the original invoice. The cost of returning goods will be borne by the customer.

We cannot accept liability for returned goods lost or damaged during transit. You are advised to wrap the product carefully to avoid damage and to return goods by recorded delivery, registered post or by courier. Proof of postage will not be accepted as proof of delivery.

We will then issue a refund in the same form of payment originally used for purchase within 30 days after we receive your return or 7 day cancellation notice.

Where a ‘free shipping’ order is part or fully returned or part cancelled Café Knit reserve the right to charge shipping pro rata should the order value fall below the prevailing free shipping rate.


If you need to exchange any item of your order, you must notify us in writing or by email within 7 working days of receipt of goods. Exchanges to another colour, size etc incur a 10% restocking and re-shipping fee, please enclose a cheque to this value made payable to Café Knit. Exchanges should be sent to Café Knit, 46 High Street, Lavenham, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 9PY, England.

Damaged Items

In the unlikely event that you receive damaged goods, please notify us in writing or by email within 7 working days of receipt of goods. Goods will be re-dispatched on return of faulty items at no extra cost to you. Please include a description of the damage together with a copy of the original invoice.

If you are not happy with your purchase for whatever reason we offer a 30 days money back guarantee. Your statutory rights are not affected. Please advise us in advance of any goods to be returned. The original invoice number must be quoted. Please note that due to copyright reasons, we cannot accept books and magazines back for credit or refund. We reserve the right to charge a restocking fee of 10% on special orders if returned to us for any reason.

In these terms and conditions the following words shall have the meanings given in this section:

“Goods” means any goods and/or material supplied by us to you and available for sale on this website.

“Café Knit”, “cafeknit.com”, “Us” or “We” means Victoria Beech trading as Café Knit, from the address 46 High Street, Lavenham, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 9PY, England.

“You” means the person, firm or company placing the order in the terms set out herein.

Tax Charges

VAT (Value Added Tax) where charged is applied at 20%. Magazines and books are exempt from VAT.
Overseas Orders

We are aware that some retailers may take advantage of overseas customers by charging standard higher rates for postage. We will be delighted to complete orders to be dispatched outside the United Kingdom. However, to ensure that we are able to fulfill the order and provide the most cost effective and efficient postage please contact us prior to placing an order. Orders delivered outside of the European Union are Free from VAT, please tick the VAT Deduction box during checkout. Payments made in US Dollars and Euros are converted by Sage Pay at the going exchange rate
Surveys and Competitions

Surveys and competitions where offered by Cafe Knit are subject to our privacy policy. Information collected in a survey or competition is for the sole use of Cafe Knit, however the raw top line data may be published at a later stage. No personal information for participants will be released. Cafe Knit Knitting Attitudes™ survey is a quarterly survey conducted by Cafe Knit. Cafe Knit Knitting Attitudes™ is and remains the intellectual property of Victoria Beech t/a Cafe Knit. Any use of Cafe Knit Knitting Attitudes™ survey data without prior permission from Cafe Knit or its owners may result with charges being made.
